Speaking of Guizhou barite, everyone is already familiar with it. Its main component is barium sulfate, which is a relatively common mineral in industrial production. Common barite is generally presented in the form of crystals, such as tube, etc. , So the barite aggregates can take the form of a rose. Barite has a variety of colors including light white and light yellow, and is also widely used. Today I will talk to you about the role of barite in coatings.

In the paint industry, barite powder fillers can increase paint film thickness, strength, and durability. Zinc-barium white pigment is also used to make white paint. It has more advantages than lead white and magnesium white when used indoors. Barite for the paint industry requires sufficient fineness and high whiteness. Paper industry, rubber and plastic industry also uses barite as a filler, which can improve the hardness, wear resistance and aging resistance of rubber and plastic. Fillers for rubber and papermaking barite manufacturers generally require BaSO4 to be greater than 98% and CaO to be less than 0.36%. Magnesium oxide and lead are not allowed.

1. Lacquer and thick paste coatings: Barite powder has high filling ability and can be applied to all coating series, for example, all types of primers, thick paste coatings, etc., its low specific surface area, particle size segmentation and easy flowability The barite powder has low abrasion resistance during processing. Barium sulfate is recommended for the surface layer of automatic primer, and maintains good uniformity and smoothness even at high filling.

2. Topcoat: Barite powder is superior to most other fillers, especially in chemical resistance coatings. It is inert, insoluble in water, acids, alkalis and organic intermediaries. The excellent gloss and fineness of the particles allow the topcoat to be protected from long-term exposure. Barium sulfate is recommended for topcoats, which can increase surface hardness, color, and stability.

3. Latex paint: Because of its weight, barite powder can only be used in latex paint, mainly used in high-gloss and silk-textured paint, and is called "acid-resistant" latex paint. Acid resistance even when exposed. Barite powder's easy dispersibility, optical rotation retention and easy retention can increase its chemical properties. Barium sulfate can be used in high-gloss paints and latex paints.

4. Printing ink: Low abrasion, high gloss and color stability, low cohesion, and its easy flow make barite powder suitable for high-quality printing inks. Barium sulfate is recommended for high optical rotation inks.

5. Wood products and paints: Barite powder has the characteristics of low cohesion, low light dispersibility and fine particles. It is especially suitable for pigment topcoats, varnishes, spray paints, etc. According to research, barium sulfate has chemical resistance and weather resistance.

Powder coatings: Used in powder coatings, barite powder can improve its gloss, fluidity, filling properties and compatibility with various pigments.

Adhesive: good rheology, high filling and chemical resistance, making barium sulfate suitable for adhesives, unsaturated polyesters and polyurethanes.

Elastomers and seals: Especially suitable for elastomers, it does not contain any heavy metal pollution or rubber poisonous gas, so it is especially suitable for food and drugs, and can provide its stability and anti-aging properties.

Thermoset: Barite powder has inertness, color stability, and can be combined with other pigments to obtain better gloss, mechanical properties and low abrasion.

Thermoplastics: thermal conductivity and easy flow can reduce the injection molding time, and barium sulfate can be used as a nucleating agent to improve its strength.

6. Degree and thermal stability: pigment: light reflection can maintain the complete color of the pigment; paper coating: introduction can increase its gloss and fluidity, such as white transparent colored paper in art paper, titanium dioxide can be replaced with double barium sulfate Without losing its gloss.
